Bye Bye Hot Tub

When we purchased our place a little over 3 years ago, there was a hot tube built into the back deck. It had not been working for three years and repair parts were not available. The deck itself was rotting as well.
It was time to take it out.
My dad came to help, and on Friday, he and I began. First, take out the rotting deck around the tub.
Then, to remove the tub, Dad cut it into 2 parts with the saws-all. We loaded each half on our wagon and hauled it to the trailer we had borrowed.
On Saturday, Mr. Wonderful joined the crew as we tackled the rest of the deck.
Loaded up and ready for the dump!
All that's left is the sweeping up.
The sweeping up of all kinds of interesting things.

Today I Finished . . .

 . . . a quilt top for my son.
It's a block of the month that should be finished in August, but I really felt the need to finish early. It was not a pattern I particularly liked. I made a lot of changes. And I hated the official pattern fabrics, so I chose my own. I am really pleased with how it turned out.

Late Snow

I discovered this beautiful fellow yesterday in our lilacs.
Today is not such a good day for sipping nectar from these flowers. I hope he made it.
So beautiful, but hope it melts quickly and doesn't harm the plants.

Redbuds and Lilacs

My redbud trees
and my lilacs are looking so pretty this spring!
After last year's disappointment with a freeze the killed the buds, it is so nice to see this beauty.
Makes me smile!

Lovely

I have been working on a "block of the month" quilt for my guy. Some of the blocks in the pattern the class is following are supposed to be applique. But we didn't have in-person class when applique techniques were taught, so I missed out and will be substituting pieced blocks of my own choosing for those blocks. I'm also not using the pattern fabrics, but instead have been using a purple batik theme as my guy expressed a desire for purple.
This is what I have done for the large applique substitute. It is one of the best blocks I have done. It is not perfect by any stretch, but my piecing has improved, and I'm very happy with how the design and my colors turned out.
This makes me so happy.

Trip to the Big City

With a day off from school, what better thing to do than to make an impromptu visit to the BIG city.
Mr. Wonderful and Miss Adventure had a great time.
(Do not know why this won't load upside right.)
*sigh*
But the highlight for Miss Adventure was a trip to a hamburger joint where a drag queen was running a bingo game for charity.
