Today I Finished . . .

. . . a small wall hanging for my sister's birthday.
A little late, but it's actually finished. A little bittersweet as well, as I had purchased the kit from which to make this a couple of years ago intending to make it for my mother's birthday. I was too late. But my sister loves it, and that makes me smile.

Today I Finished . . .

. . . Roman shades for my office.
I purchased the materials to make insulated Roman shades for my office in August of 2018. When it got chilly and I had not yet gotten them made, I used binder clips on some existing hooks to hang the insulating material up. Now I wasn't freezing in my office and the project lost its urgency. But finally, I have made them and it looks so much better than the white blanket.
Plus, Mr. Wonderful hung the prints that had been leaning against the wall for 3 years.

Getting after my goals for this year.

A Perfect Snow

In the wee hours of New Year's morning it began to snow. It snowed until after lunch. We ended up getting about 5 inches. And we needed to go nowhere. Most people needed to go nowhere. Even the fast food places open late on New Year's Day. So the snowy streets were pretty empty for those who had to get out. Perfect. Not too much, but enough to make it beautiful out.
The next day was perfect for snowman building, but Miss Adventure and I were too late getting started. It had gotten too cold for the snow to stick, so we made tracks and snow angels and threw snowballs at each other that disintegrated before they ever reached their target in the still darkness.
On Sunday, it grew warm enough again, so we went to work before the sun went down.
And today, it has been so warm that he will soon fall.
A perfect snow.

A New Year

I love New Year's Day. No big expectations that I need to make happen. Nothing big on the agenda. A clean slate of a new year ahead. I enjoy making resolutions as I look forward to the next revolution around the sun. And so . . .

Goal Number 3 - continue to build on the successes of last year's goal 3, but this year with special emphasis on my office. My desk seems to be a catch all for things I don't know what to do with. I also deal with the mail and bills, so that clutter can build. This next year I want to get rid of one of my two filing cabinets. I really only need one and the extra one makes my space seem a bit crowded. I want to rearrange the electronic equipment, hang the art work, finish making the Roman shades, and cull books to tidy my book shelf. If I manage to tidy other areas or complete other put off projects, that will just be bonus. I really need my office space to be less chaotic.

Goal Number 2 - this goal is usually focused on health in some fashion. And one could stretch this one to say it would be healthier. My goal is to better my garden. This past year, my garden was the best I'd ever achieved and yielded much fruit. With just a little more effort, it could flourish that much more. Any food I produce reduces what I have to purchase. I know what chemicals (no pesticides) have been used. It requires no transportation beyond my walking a few feet. Produce is harvested at optimum time for flavor and vitamins, not for storage and transport. It all comes with no packaging, reducing my trash stream. I can hardly wait to see how much of our food I can grow this year.

Goal Number 1 - continues to be to get something going with my scrapbooks. You would think with this goal constantly here something would happen. I'm still trying to figure out what is blocking me from making any real progress. I have decided to devote one day a month to this. First Friday maybe. I'm not sure. I'll have to figure that out this month.

So there they are, my goals for 2021. Will I make it? I'll let you know in twelve months.
Have a blessed year all.
